DEAL REACHED IN US SENATE ON NEW IMMIGRATION LEGISLATION PDF Print E-mail

MAY 17, 2006

It appears that the Senate has agreed on principle to an overhaul of the present immigration system. The early reports indicate that undocumented aliens in the United States will be given some type of legal status with a path towards permanent residency and eventually U.S. citizenship. However, this is not yet the law and many steps have to be taken, the last being the signature of President Bush. We are a long way from having Comprehensive Immigration Reform, but the Senate has taken an important first step.

Thank you to all of you who have made calls and sent letters to our Nevada delegation. I encourage you to continue to do so as there is still a lot of work to do in the weeks and months ahead. I will update this website as new developments occur.
